The Zhonghua Xiaode Garden (Cao E scenic area) is located at the foot of Phoenix Mountain in the southwest of Shangyu urban area. It covers an area of 37.5 hectares and is the core block of the provincial-level scenic area of Cao E River. The scenic area takes ‘filial piety culture’ as the theme and is based on Yu Shun, the ancient sage king known for his filial piety that moved heaven, and Cao E, the filial daughter of the Eastern Han Dynasty who jumped into the river to save her father. Through the excavation of Yu Shun culture, filial piety culture, Buddhist culture and folk culture, it centrally showcases the long human history of Shangyu and inherits and promotes the filial piety spirit that has inspired the Chinese nation to keep advancing for thousands of years. The scenic area is designed by the famous ancient architecture master Zhu Guangya. It mainly includes architectural complexes such as Dashun Temple, Yu Shun Ancestral Temple, Prajna Temple, and the Exhibition Hall of Filial Piety Culture. It echoes with the sculpture group of ‘Ploughing by Elephants and Tilling by Birds’ created by the art master Han Meilin. Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:00 to 16:30.
