Historical records indicate that Datang Xingguo Chan Temple was originally established in the 19th year of the Zhenguan era during the Tang Dynasty. When Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, was on his eastern campaign, he once lodged overnight on Dacheng Mountain. After his victorious return, he built this temple here, embodying the meaning of prosperity and peace for the nation, and named it Datang Xingguo Chan Temple.

In 1976, the temple was destroyed in the Tangshan Earthquake and remained desolate for several decades thereafter. The reconstructed Datang Xingguo Chan Temple now stands on the southern slope of the main peak of Dacheng Mountain in the Lu Bei District of Tangshan City, covering an area of over 70 acres. Surrounded by lush green mountains and thriving vegetation, the temple is in close proximity to Phoenix Mountain.

It is open to the public all year round from 07:00 to 17:00.
