Dongli Square is adjacent to the Dongli District Government in the south, separated by Qixia Road. It is adjacent to Yuejin Road in the east and Jintang Highway in the north. Its geographical location is at the core area of politics, economy and culture in Dongli District. Dongli Square is named after ‘the place where the sun rises in the east’. The large fountain group on the main axis moistens the surrounding air.
The main square features a nearly 4-meter-high stacked horizontal platform as the main scenery. In front of the stacked platform is the relief ‘Dongli Riding the Beautiful Wind’. There is scenery to see even when there is no water spraying. Around the main square, there are six sets of dry fountains, representing the six pillar industries of Dongli District. Inside the stacked platform, a platform is separated from the water surface by glass railings. People can overlook or observe the stacked water and springs up close, or sit on the steps and talk in twos or threes. In the center of the platform is the sculpture ‘Rising from Pengcheng in the East’. The sculpture is composed of abstract shapes of doors, ships and sails, aiming to show the important geographical location of Dongli District as the east gate of Tianjin and the profound history with water culture as the theme and the strong development momentum under the new situation. Dongli Square has a hardened paving area of about 30,000 square meters, a water surface and green area of about 20,000 square meters. The green coverage rate is about 40%. More than 60 kinds of trees and flowers are planted. There are rich tree species and lush forests. Landscape stones and seats are arranged among them. As a major highlight of Dongli District, Dongli Square beautifies the environmental development of the entire Dongli District and enhances the overall appearance of the whole district.
