The Dongzhaoshan Guandi Temple, which originated from the Mingde Hall of Wenfang Society in Kaohsiung, was established in 1951. A site in Xiaoping Village, Dashu Township, was selected for the construction of the temple, and it was completed in 1990.
The temple’s main deity is the golden statue of Lord Guan Shengdi. In addition to this, the temple also houses the God of Wealth and other deities. The hall displays dozens of portraits depicting the deeds of Guan Gong, offering visitors a visual journey through the history of the Three Kingdoms. Standing on the pilgrim building, a majestic Guan Gong statue reaches a height of 36 feet.
Xiaoping Village, with its high terrain and excellent views, provides a stunning overlook of the Kaohsiung urban area on clear days. The temple’s front is graced by a green tunnel road, which is both secluded and a welcome respite from the heat. This feature is beloved not only by pilgrims but also by cyclists who enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The Dongzhaoshan Guandi Temple is open all year round, with operating hours from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
