Douyan Scenic Area is dominated by its main peak, Douyan Mountain, originally named Dou Rock, signifying its abrupt and towering presence. It was later renamed Douyan due to the surrounding peaks resembling celestial constellations. The essence of visiting Douyan lies in the ascent. The area is renowned for its peculiar peaks, steep cliffs, grotesque rocks, secluded caves, and clear springs. The vast mountain is composed of hundreds of rocks, with a climate that is warm in winter and cool in summer, perennially shrouded in mist, creating an enigmatic atmosphere.
Douyan boasts lush vegetation with a forest coverage rate of 72%, over 130 types of tree species, including century-old camphor and sandalwood trees, and ancient crape myrtles that are thousands of years old. At the foot of the mountain, there are orderly villages, shaded by bamboo and wood, surrounded by fertile fields and beautiful ponds. The scenic area offers ‘Farmstay’ activities, allowing visitors to experience rural scenery and farm life while enjoying the views and climbing. Douyan Scenic Area features more than fifty spots, including Commanding Platform, Douyan Buddha, Golden Well Dragon Pool, Fairy Cave, Thousand Steps Cloud Ladder, White Cloud Zen Temple, Dragon King Hall, and Thousand Buddhas Gathering, all connected by an F-shaped main tourist path in a radial pattern, allowing visitors to ascend and appreciate each site along the stone steps. The area is open from 07:30 to 17:00 all year round; from 08:00 to 16:30 all year round, with specific business hours subject to the day’s opening conditions.
