The Drum Tower Commercial Street is located in the center of Tianjin’s old city. It is a large-scale commercial and tourist pedestrian street centered around the Drum Tower and integrating tourism, culture, shopping, and leisure. Today, the Drum Tower Commercial Street is in a T shape. It starts from Chengxiang East Road in the east and reaches Chengxiang Middle Road in the west; it starts from Chengxiang Middle Road in the north and extends to Chengxiang Middle Road in the south, presenting a majestic posture like a roc spreading its wings.


With a total construction area of 70,000 square meters, the street is mainly in the Ming and Qing architectural style of blue tile houses, with the main body having 2 to 4 floors, high and low scattered. The entire layout of the commercial street is divided into three parts: The north street is 300 meters long, and its business positioning is the Antique City and the Golden Pavilion Art Market; the east street is 580 meters long, and its business positioning is the boutique shopping street; the south street is 240 meters long, and it is the Oriental City That Never Sleeps mainly focusing on Tianjin’s traditional folk culture, commerce, and catering.


The landscape style is a blend of traditional, cultural, Tianjin, folk, and modern flavors, fully reflecting the affinity of people-oriented. The humanistic landscape of the entire street is manifested in the design of plaques, couplets, shop signs, shop banners, lighting, neon lights, light boxes, etc. Plaques are mainly horizontal plaques, with vertical plaques, special-shaped plaques, and fan-shaped plaques interspersed.


Black background with gold characters and red seals and natural wood with green characters and red seals show the characteristics of simplicity, elegance, solemnity, and dignity. Couplets also mostly adopt the above forms. Fonts include regular script, running script, cursive script, official script, Han bamboo slips script, Wei stele script, etc. Some are inscribed by famous calligraphers, and printed fonts and bold fonts are rarely used.


Shop signs and shop banners are divided into four categories: text, image, physical object, and symbol. The entire street integrates traditional, cultural, Tianjin, folk, and modern flavors into one, giving people a unique and quaint feeling.



The opening hours are all year round and open all day.
