Gao Shuxun (1898-1972), styled Jianhou, was a native of Yanshan, Hebei, and a patriotic general. Born into poverty, he ventured into Sichuan alone at the age of 18 and served in Feng Yuxiang’s army. Known for his integrity and bravery in battle, he earned numerous military merits and was eventually promoted to the rank of division commander. In 1931, when his troops were dispatched to Jiangxi to ‘encircle and suppress’ the Red Army, Gao Shuxun resolutely left his old unit and moved to live in Tianjin.

Characteristics of Gao Shuxun’s Former Residence: The residence is a brick-concrete structure, with the main building being a uniquely designed two-story English villa-style building. The building features red-tiled brick walls, wooden balconies, and a red-tiled pitched roof. On the left side, there is a distinctive umbrella-shaped small building. The courtyard is filled with lush flowers and evergreen cypress trees. It is open to the public all year round, with full-day access.
