The former residence of Zhang Zizhong is located on Chengdu Road, Heping District. In August 1936, during his tenure as the mayor of Tianjin, Zhang Zizhong purchased an empty lot in the name of Qing’antang and built it. The entire building is an independent brick-wood structure residence, with some parts being three stories. The building facade is strict and symmetrical. The outer eaves wall is made of sulfur brick and plastered surface, simple and unadorned. The corridor columns on the first floor have simplified sparrow braces, incorporating traditional Chinese architectural elements into the overall modern style.
