The Hejian Prefectural Yamen is an ancient yamen with a long history. It was built in the second year of Daguan in the Northern Song Dynasty. It is majestic and famous far and near. It is known as the ‘first prefecture in southern Beijing’. According to records, the old Hejian Prefectural Yamen faces south and is majestic and magnificent. It is built in three routes: east, middle and west. The first thing that catches the eye is the large screen wall.

Continuing to walk north is the main hall, which is the place where government yamen tried cases in ancient times. Behind the main hall is the corridor. After passing the corridor is the second hall, which is the place for trying confidential cases. Behind the second hall is the inner residence, which is the place where the families of magistrates lived in ancient times. Here, the historical features of the Hejian Prefectural Yamen are fully preserved, and there are a large number of precious inscriptions and historical materials.
