The Beijing Imperial Kiln Gold Brick Museum is located at No. 1 Miyong Road, China’s Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (former site of the Miyuzidian People’s Commune). It was founded by the famous collector Mr. Wang Zhonghua. The museum houses extremely precious imperial kiln gold bricks from the Yongle period to the Xuantong period, providing extremely valuable physical materials for interpreting and exploring the politics, economy and culture of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The imperial kiln gold brick is known as the ‘best brick in the world’ and is a wonder in China’s kiln brick firing industry. The emperor could build a palace city in four years, but it would take two years to polish a gold brick. As said in ‘Tiangong Kaiwu’, ‘With the combination of water and fire, its quality endures for thousands of years’. The imperial kiln gold brick releases lasting hardness and firmness for thousands of years in its life, and is a symbol of the eternal stability of the Ming and Qing emperors’ reigns and the long-lasting foundation. It contains the honor and disgrace, rise and fall of the Ming and Qing dynasties. A history of gold brick firing is a history of the rise and fall of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It not only reflects the supreme imperial power but also is the crystallization of human wisdom. At present, the museum has five exhibition halls: Craftsman Spirit, Great Ming Empire, Great Qing Empire, Ming and Qing Residual Brick Culture, and 600 Years of Music. It perfectly presents the life course of imperial kiln gold bricks in various forms such as cultural relics display, scene restoration, popular science display, knowledge lectures, and experience interaction. Through internal service centers such as the administrative management center, public education center, and collection research center, as well as a complete security system such as surveillance cameras, the museum provides a safe and comfortable educational research place integrating education, appreciation and research. Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year, from 09:30 to 17:00; closed all day on Monday throughout the year; closed all day during the Spring Festival.Beijing Imperial Kiln Gold Brick Museum
