Located in Niangbang Village, Yangcheng Lake Town, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City, Huang Luo Zen Temple is adjacent to Yangcheng Lake in the east and has Guanxing River flowing behind the temple. The temple is surrounded by water on three sides, with long corridors and waterside pavilions, offering beautiful scenery. River lanes crisscross, with rows of willow trees along the banks and green trees providing shade, creating a pleasant and attractive environment. It is the only temple in the Yangtze River Delta region that combines the architectural style of the Northern School.

The temple was originally built in the middle of the Tang Dynasty and was originally named Jishan An. At that time, it was a thriving place of worship, with worshippers from all over the Jiangnan area. During the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong period, the temple was renamed Wanglu An, meaning that officials and nobility had once stayed here, which is why the names Guanxing Bridge and Guanxing River are still in use today. Later, it is said that Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, who visited the south to search for his father, stayed here for one night, and thus it was renamed Huang Luo An.

Huang Luo Zen Temple is a famous Buddhist site in Suzhou and also the location of the Suzhou Buddhist Association. With a long and ancient cultural history, it is an ideal place for religious activities and a tourist destination for leisure and sightseeing. The temple is open all year round from 6:00 to 18:00.
