Jingang Park is located on the northeast side of the intersection of Zhongshan Road and Haihe East Road (beside Jingang Bridge). In 1895 (the 21st year of Guangxu), a Coastal Defense Office was built here. Later, it was rebuilt into a temporary palace for Empress Dowager Cixi to review troops in Tianjin, but it was not used. In 1902 (the 28th year of Guangxu), Yuan Shikai, the governor-general of Zhili and minister of Beiyang, relocated the Zhili governor-general’s yamen here to promote new policies and develop the new district of Hebei.
Later, it was the location of the Zhili provincial government and the Hebei provincial government. In July 1937, it was bombed into ruins by the Japanese invaders. After liberation, it was rebuilt. There are antique-style buildings and a miniature model of Jingang Bridge in the courtyard. This year, the Tianjin government has renovated it. After the renovation, Jingang Park has improved four major areas: the main scenic area, fitness sports square, rockery fountain and cultural corridor. The prominent feature is that it has expanded the mass activity places. A new ecological wood square and cultural corridor have been built, basically meeting the requirement of one scene at every step. It provides a beautiful leisure environment for the people and has become a beautiful scenic line in the landscape belt along the Haihe River and on Zhongshan Road. Open all day from January 1st to December 31st.Jingang Park
