Lao Thailand Travel: A Journey to the Enchanting Wonders of Laos and Thailand for New Year 2020

The Wood Museum

Ordinary tourists are not allowed to take pictures in the inner hall during the visit here, and the upper floors above the second floor are not open to ordinary tourists. These woods are all the remaining ones abandoned by others in the primeval forest, the ones left after being cut down or burned by fire, and the remaining woods buried in the soil or fished out from the water. After ingenious carving and design, they are displayed in front of people. And each work embodies the story of collection and creation.

I was very fortunate to visit the entire museum and actually filled up a camera memory card. Here, each work is a rare treasure. There is also the legend of the museum’s agarwood. I will sort it out slowly and share it with you in a separate article.

Dining Experience

The last lunch and afternoon tea time passed quickly. At the end of the itinerary, Lao Haipi said that he would take us to eat at a super famous meat bone shop. As a result, when we arrived at the store after the meal time, the clerk said that the meat bones were sold out. Hahaha~ Leaving some regrets gives us more reasons to come again next time! So we ordered a beef platter and rice noodles. They are very delicious. We each ate two large bowls of rice noodles.

Some teachers can order extra noodles separately if they want. However, Lao people are not so flexible in doing business. There is no option to add just one portion of noodles. If you want to add, it has to be a full portion. Teacher Jindan and I are a perfect match. He only wants rice noodles, and I only want the soup and ingredients. It’s a perfect match!

There is a basket of vegetables in the center of the store, filled with various washed fresh vegetables that can be soaked in the rice noodles by oneself. Unfortunately, I found it too late. When the soup is cold, it’s too late to put them in.

Coffee in Laos

After dinner, we enjoyed the popular coffee at the cafe. The coffee in Laos is truly delicious. However, it’s also interesting to note that if you order a drink in Laos without ice, the staff will serve you a half-glass of pure drink. They are that straightforward!
