Marco Polo Square covers an area of 2,200 square meters. At its center is the Goddess of Peace statue, which was built to commemorate the victory of World War I. The statue was shipped from Italy via Shanghai to Tianjin after its construction. The square is composed of the Goddess of Peace statue and six typical villas in the Mediterranean style of Southern Italy. The main sculpture includes a fountain pool, a pedestal, Roman columns, and the statue of the Goddess of Peace. It stands at 13.6 meters tall and is entirely made of granite. The upper part of the pedestal is adorned with four European-style statues. The top of the column features the Goddess of Peace in bronze, holding an olive branch, symbolizing the eternal theme of ‘friendship and peace’. The square’s construction is dominated by warm tones. With a well-balanced combination of light and shadow, it creates a sense of subtlety, warmth, leisure, tranquility, and comfort. The square is open to the public all day, every day of the year.
