Mount Qingyuan

Mount Qingyuan is located in the northern suburbs of Quanzhou City. It is commonly known as ‘North Mountain’. The main scenic area is 3 kilometers away from the urban area of Quanzhou City, and the transportation is very convenient. Mount Qingyuan is Quanzhou’s first 5A-level scenic area and can be regarded as a landmark scenic spot in Quanzhou. The mountain is not high, so there is no need to regard the trip to Mount Qingyuan as a mountain climbing journey.

It may be more appropriate to describe it as leisure exercise. According to the records of Quanzhou Prefecture Annals, Mount Qingyuan was developed in the Qin Dynasty. In the Tang Dynasty, the three schools of ‘Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism’ competed to occupy and operate the land. Therefore, there are various old traces of the three schools of ‘Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism’ in the scenic area, which can be experienced one by one.

The highlight of the whole mountain is the Laojun Rock at the foot of the mountain, that is, the sculpture of Laozi. It is vividly carved and has a history of a thousand years. In the scenic area of Mount Qingyuan, there is also the stupa of Master Hongyi who has a deep connection with southern Fujian and is located here. Inside the stupa are tearful ink paintings sadly made by Mr. Feng Zikai. In front of the stupa, there is the master’s last ink inscription ‘Mixed feelings of sadness and joy’.

The cultural landscape of Mount Qingyuan is better than the natural landscape. There are many cliff carvings of past dynasties here. You can follow the map to find the ‘been here’ of the ancients one by one. In addition to seeing cultural landscapes and climbing mountains for exercise, the charm of Mount Qingyuan is not only this. Drinking tea in the mountains and eating and drinking on the top of the mountain are also unique pleasures.

There are many places to rest and make tea on the way up the mountain. You can stop and drink some tea and slowly taste the culture of southern Fujian. Making tea on the mountain and enjoying the scenery while sipping tea is extremely enjoyable. There is a lake named Tianhu on the top of the mountain. You can eat local farm food by the lake. The prices of farm food are not expensive and the taste is good.

When it is almost dark, there are still people eating barbecue on the mountain. It is said that this is a lifestyle that locals often have. In addition, you can also overlook the ancient city of Quanzhou from top to bottom.
