Nandagang Wetland is a famous coastal wetland formed by siltation of retreating sea rivers in Cangzhou. It has beautiful scenery all year round. The scenic area includes sightseeing waterways and land routes, embankment roads, two tourist centers and squares in the north and south, five cruise ship docks, bird-watching pavilions, reed maze, crane releasing square, Dawang folk custom museum, bird’s nest, wild duck bay, Zhongxian Island, ecological green corridor and many other scenic spots.
There are also two bird performance projects, namely wild goose welcoming and bar-headed goose releasing. Nandagang Wetland currently has 237 species of plants, 291 species of insects and 261 species of birds. Among them, there are 39 species of national second-class protected birds such as red-crowned cranes, white cranes, great bustards, oriental white storks and grey cranes. There are also 27 species of freshwater fish. This is an important ecological area in good original condition on the eastern coast of China. It is known as the’southern garden of Beijing and Tianjin and a natural oxygen bar’. Climbing up the bird-watching pavilion and standing on the bird-watching platform, you can have a bird’s-eye view of the whole wetland. Of course, you can also rent binoculars here, so that you can clearly see the interesting postures of various rare birds. The reed maze is also a beautiful scenic line here. The reed waterways and plank roads are intertwined. Tourists can take a boat to play along the waterways or stroll and play on the plank roads. In addition to the beautiful scenery, there is also a profound folk culture here. The Dawang Folk Custom Museum collects more than 300 folk items such as fishing tools, wild goose enclosure tools, textile tools, farming tools and living utensils from the late Qing Dynasty to the 1960s and 1970s. In the form of physical objects, it centrally reflects the characteristics and conditions of production and life of people in Dawang in history and reflects the beauty of the creation of survival civilization of the people.
