Nan Shi Hotel Street is located next to the South Outer Street, adjacent to the Nan Shi Food Street.
Designed by Yuan Jiashu, the granddaughter of Yuan Shikai, Nan Shi Hotel Street was established during a time when quick hotels had not yet emerged. Travelers from other places who came to Tianjin on business could not afford to stay in large hotels like Friendship Hotel, Tianjin Hotel, or the Astor Hotel, and had to settle for small hotels with poor conditions. Nan Shi, being a hub for these small hotels, led to the construction of a fortress-like building – the Nan Shi Hotel Street.Nan Shi Hotel Street
