Nantang Old Street is located outside the south gate of Ningbo’s ancient city, once a hub of commerce and culture known as the ‘Three Markets of the South Gate’ in old Ningbo, and is one of the eight historical districts in Ningbo. The old street has preserved over 500 meters of traditional Jiangnan alleys and lanes, successfully integrating the historical charm, architectural features, and celebrity culture into the layout during its design and construction, recreating the rich atmosphere of Ningbo’s business transactions and daily life over the past century.
At the entrance of the street stands the ‘Nantang Old Street’ archway, with blue walls and black tiles on both sides, along with carved balconies. However, due to recent restoration, they appear relatively new. Most of the small shops along the street sell various Ningbo snacks, offering a paradise for food enthusiasts who can indulge in a variety of delicacies from start to finish.

Nantang Old Street is also home to numerous cultural and historical sites: Yuan Xie, one of the ‘Four Masters of Chunxi’ during the Southern Song Dynasty, and his descendants lived here. Additionally, the street features the former residence of the renowned film artist Yuan Mu, the Yongshui Bridge, a strategic passage from ancient Mingzhou to southern and western Zhejiang, the Yongshan Pavilion built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, the Guansheng Hall, Tongmao Ji, Yu’s Ancestral Hall, several stone-paved river jetties, and numerous street-side shops and workshops.

Opening hours are from 09:00 to 21:00 all year round. Facilities include mobile phone charging and luggage storage, with prices available via QR code scanning.
