The museum exhibits exquisite silk carpets and paintings, including works by domestic painters such as Yuan Yunfu, Deng Lin, and Luo Zhongli, as well as masterpieces by Chinese-American painters such as Ding Shaoguang and Zhao Wuji. Among them, ‘A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains’ is the only surviving masterpiece of Wang Ximeng, a court painter of the Northern Song Dynasty. ‘A Picture of a Hundred Blessings, Honors, and Longevities’ is the传世力作 of Niu Yunfeng, a painter of the Qing Dynasty. In 1973, Rugao City established the silk carpet business. In 2002, the Rugao Silk Carpet Art Museum officially opened. Since 1981, the museum has cooperated with the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts (now the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University) to develop modern art tapestries. Silk carpets have been collected by the United Nations, famous museums in the United States, the Zhongnanhai State Guesthouse of the State Council, embassies and consulates abroad, palaces and government institutions of some countries.
