At 19:30 on November 4th, the opening extravaganza of the 2024 JZ Festival Shanghai’s 20th anniversary: ‘The Ceremony of Chinese Jazz Power’ is coming with a bang. This is the 20 years of JZ Festival Shanghai and also the 100 years of Chinese jazz!
Veteran Chinese pop band ADO, Kong Hongwei (the creator of China’s first original jazz album), Qin Sifeng (a composer at the Golden Melody Awards level), Peng Fei (a composer with tens of billions of box office), jazz singer Gu Feng, ‘Jazzman’ Li Quan, Zhao Ke (the first Chinese singer to appear on the Montreux Jazz Festival), famous trumpet player Li Xiaochuan, jazz guitarist Zhang Xiongguan, jazz pianist Yang Guang, jazz singer Xi Chenchen, rap singer Little Tiger, and ‘the godfather of Chinese rock’ Cui Jian. Nearly a hundred jazz musicians from more than ten cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Zhuhai form a luxurious lineup!
Important figures who have written Chinese jazz history will all be present. Chinese jazz big shots of three generations will gather together. They will not only bring special adapted versions of classic Chinese jazz, but also perform some avant-garde works that have never been recorded before! We will also invite a ‘godfather of Chinese jazz’ and pay the highest tribute to him!
