The Glintwine Band was founded in Shenzhen in 2021 by two Yale University graduates. Lead vocalist Di Di, a former member of the Yale University A Cappella group and graduate of the Yale University East Asia Institute, and guitarist Pu Xiaobo, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Yale University, have created a unique sound blending jazz, Latin folk, French chanson, and guitar solos.
In 2022, the band signed with Universal Records in Beijing and released their debut album ‘Sip On That Glintwine’ in the fall. It was digitally launched on major global music platforms such as QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Spotify, and Apple Music. They also published a physical album featuring 12 tracks, including jazz classics adapted by the band, Latin folk songs, French ballads, and guitar solos.
Starting from September 2023, the band embarked on a national concert hall tour titled ‘Intoxicating Journey’, visiting cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xiamen, Wuhan, Quanzhou, Zhuhai, and more.
In October 2023, they released their first all-Chinese original EP album ‘The Other Shore’ on major music platforms worldwide and also launched a physical album.
In May 2024, the band held a special concert edition titled ‘Ten Thousand Miles’ at the Shenzhen Poly Theatre and released an album ‘Intoxicating Journey’ which includes several live tracks.
In August 2024, the band joined a joint tour with Geo Folk, a national treasure-level polyphonic choir from Georgia. They performed at top national venues such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts and Beijing Arts Center and were featured on the front page of ‘Music Weekly’.Performance begins on Saturday, October 19th, at 7:30 PM, according to the live event schedule.
