Since the conclusion of the first season of the Black Museum’s ‘Psychiatric World’ in 2020, many visitors have left messages and made calls to inquire whether the museum is still open, with some even making a trip to the site in vain. Starting from 2021, we launched a nationwide tour of this series, encountering various challenges along the way. After a brief separation, we finally returned to the metropolis on October 10, 2023, World Mental Health Day.

Over these two years of touring, we have made adjustments to the static parts of ’91cm World’, the exhibit sections of ‘Contra’ and ‘The Dictionary of Symptoms’, the content sections of ‘Phantom Touch’ and ‘Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity’, and have reintroduced the 2015 unidirectional space of depression. The Shanghai opening will also showcase these subtle changes.

The empty space this year is an independent space prepared for workshops and performances, aiming to experiment with various activities related to psychology and healing. We welcome high-quality content partners from all walks of life to collaborate and create together.

In terms of peripherals, we have selected ‘Today Well Spent’ (Refined Art of Living), a brand that targets the inner health lifestyle of the digital age, to co-brand practical tools that help busy urbanites manage emotional stress and create conditions for sustainable peak performance in daily life. All you need to do is two words – ‘Buy it’!

The content of the third season is also in the midst of a challenging birth, and there is not much time left for the 2025 deadline we agreed upon with everyone. If heaven favors us, we will surely deliver a satisfactory answer.

‘We use a sentence from our exhibitors as the title to encourage everyone to be more tolerant towards themselves and others: “Actually, it’s okay if people don’t strive hard.”‘

Finally, we are particularly grateful to Kerry Construction Group and all colleagues at The Lightbox for their eight months of并肩作战 and wholehearted support, welcoming the opening of the mall and our museum. Thank you to all the friends who helped us during the preparation period and to those who supported us with tickets.
