Wang Xi Zhengqing is the founder of Liyuan Theatre Society. He holds a Master’s degree from Peking University, where he also serves as a teaching assistant for traditional Chinese art performance in the university’s international courses. Wang Xi Zhengqing began his journey in the arts at a young age, learning Kunqu at the age of six, and later studying Peking Opera at nine. By twelve, he specialized in Jiangnan storytelling, focusing on Jiangnan-style quyi, storytelling, and historical narration.

Performance Repertoire:

Wang Xi Zhengqing’s performance repertoire is diverse and rich. His storytelling works include the ‘Journey to the West Series’, ‘Classic of Mountains and Seas Series’, and ‘The Washing Away of Wrongs for the Song Dynasty’, among others. In Cantonese Opera, his performances span ‘The Last Songstress’ and ‘Butterfly Lovers’, and more. Kunqu opera performances include ‘The Peony Pavilion’, and other notable works. Peking Opera is represented by ‘The Magic Purse’ and ‘The Red-Maned Steed’, among others. National Style Songs round out his repertoire with titles such as ‘Red Performer’, ‘Peeking through the Window’, ‘Poet Bole’s Tale’, ‘Qingming Rain’, ‘Swallow Without a Load’, ‘Surprised Swan Drunk’, and ‘Love in the Three Kingdoms’, and more.
