ShanghART M50 is honored to present the solo exhibition ‘Perspectives’ by artist Zhang Ding, running from September 21 to December 1, 2024. This exhibition marks the first comprehensive display of the artist’s use of bones in his work, a theme that has been present since 2018 and spans over seven years to the present.
The exhibition includes series such as ‘Vortex’, ‘Stellar’, ‘Perspectives’, ‘Unceasing’, ‘Green Skeleton’, and ‘Untitled-2024’. Skulls and bones are the central elements, providing a ‘perspective’ through which to observe and reflect on human studies, comparative cultures, semiotics, future archaeology, and art history. It delves into the coordinates of individual existence in time and space, along with the corresponding relationships, offering a reflection on the spiritual life and contemplation of contemporary people.
