The Songjiang Tuanbo Lake Golf Club is located in the Tuanbo Lake Scenic Area in the southwest of Tianjin city, just 15 kilometers away from the city’s outer ring road. The club boasts a 36-hole high-quality golf course and a 4,600 square meter clubhouse with comprehensive facilities. The golf course was designed by TP Company, led by Mr. Peter Thomson, a five-time British Open champion. The Links Course (C and D courses) features clever and intricate designs, with artillery-style greens and deep bunkers as a distinctive feature of the course.
The fairways of the Links Course use high-quality bent grass and incorporate local reeds and red willows for the landscape, making the course extremely natural and unique, and it is widely recognized by golfers as a Links-style course in North China. The course is surrounded by the 51 square kilometer Tuanbo Lake on three sides, offering pleasant scenery. The old course (A and B courses), built in 2003, was redesigned and renovated in 2006 and put into use in 2007. After the renovation, a large number of trees were planted around the fairways, and the fairways were covered with zoysia grass, which is quite different from the style of the Links Course. The old course is recognized as one of the most challenging golf courses in Tianjin at present. In 2008, the club’s Links Course was rated as one of the top five new courses in China by Golf Magazine, Sina Golf Channel, and Travel Satellite TV.
