Swan Lake, nestled at an altitude of 2905 meters, is a semi-marshy lake that stands out among the many lakes in Jiuzhaigou. Measuring 720 meters in length and 50-100 meters in width, this lake boasts a depth of 2-6 meters, covering an area of 43,000 square meters with a water volume of 200,000 cubic meters. It is connected to the downstream of Caohai, which contributes to its unique characteristics.
The lake is surrounded by lush mountains and forests, with prosperous flowers and trees creating a vibrant landscape. As one passes through from the virgin forest downstream, the vast lake presents a sight of wild grass and brilliant mountain flowers, with a clear stream meandering through it. Swans occasionally take flight and land, while wild ducks swim in groups, adding to the lake’s natural beauty.
What sets Swan Lake apart is its distinctive aquatic plants. Tender green and floating on the water’s surface, they resemble a layer of delicate velvet. The lake’s semi-marshy nature, with most of its surface silted up into shoals, contributes to its serene and stable atmosphere. Few tourists venture here, allowing the lake to maintain its peacefulness.
Lying quietly in the valley, Swan Lake’s surface shimmers with a crystal luster, framed by dark green mountains and forests, and the surrounding flora creates an ethereal and silent ambiance. The area’s richness in aquatic plants attracts the solitary and noble swans, who often inhabit and breed in this tranquil environment.
