The synagogue is located at the intersection of Nanjing Road and Zhengzhou Road. It was planned and constructed by the Jewish Religious Council in 1937 and completed in 1940. The church is in Gothic style and has the characteristics of European church architecture. The synagogue maintains a complete ethnic lifestyle in the community. Even during World War II, it maintained its original existence. The synagogue is designed by Nordic architects and is a church with Jewish style.
There used to be a metal hexagram on the roof of the original building, and a hexagram is also inlaid on the top of the front of the building. It has been removed but the trace of the hexagram can still be vaguely seen. There is a fence in the shape of a hexagram on the iron gate of the original church, and there is a seven-candlestick sign on the colored glass window of the main entrance.
