On September 29, 2020, which was my birthday, I decided to celebrate alone in Shanghai. I chose to spend the day exploring the city and indulging in a Western meal at the Thames Western Restaurant, located on Kongjiang Road in the northeast corner of Shanghai. The duration of my trip was one day, and the per capita cost was 99 yuan.

Upon arriving at the restaurant at noon, I found it bustling with activity, filled with many diners. The atmosphere was lively as I took a seat and perused the menu. I started my meal with a bowl of borscht, followed by fried pork chops, baked escargot, onion bread, and a glass of brandy. Each dish was served with care, and I began to savor the flavors of my birthday feast.
After a satisfying meal, I tallied up the costs: the borscht was priced at 15 yuan, the baked escargot cost 27 yuan (3 pieces at 9 yuan each), the fried pork chops were 35 yuan, the onion bread was 4 yuan, and the brandy was 15 yuan. The total bill came to 96 yuan, which was well within my budget for the day.
