The former residence of Tian Zhongyu, a warlord of the Anhui clique and former military governor of Shandong, is located in Tianjin and was built in 1922. It is situated at what was then St. Louis Road, now No. 42 Yingkou Road, Heping District, Tianjin.

This Romanesque three-story brick and wood structure building features a basement. The main entrance at the front of the building is supported by four oversized Ionic columns with a triangular pediment, forming a two-story high porch.

The exterior of the building is made of clear water blue bricks, and the roof is a pointed four-sided slope red tile roof. The three balconies on the second floor are decorated with flower and plant sculptures.

The building has a total of 18 rooms inside, with the first floor housing a living room, dining room, ballroom, lounge, and bathrooms; the second floor has bedrooms, study rooms, and living rooms; the third floor is for living rooms and storage rooms. The interior is also equipped with fireplaces, wall panels, double-glazed windows with gauze, and herringbone hardwood floors.

In 1935, after Tian Zhongyu’s death, the residence was lived in by his descendants. After 1954, it became the business building of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce Petroleum Procurement and Supply Station, and has undergone two renovations and expansions since. Now it is a residential building, a historically protected building, and a cultural heritage site in Tianjin.

The building is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
