The Tianjin Confucian Temple was built in the first year of Zhengtong in the Ming Dynasty. It is a local official school for education and a temple for respecting Confucius in Tianjin. The Confucian Temple is an ancient building complex with a high level in Tianjin’s history. It is also the existing complete and large-scale ancient building complex in Tianjin. The main buildings of the Confucian Temple include the street-crossing archway, the Wanren Palace Wall, the Pan Pool, the Lingxing Gate, the Dacheng Gate, the Dacheng Hall and the Chongsheng Shrine.

These buildings are basically arranged symmetrically and run through the north-south central axis respectively. They have a typical traditional Chinese architectural style. There are currently basic exhibitions such as the ‘Restoration Exhibition of Dacheng Hall’ and the exhibition of sacrificial Confucian musical instruments and dance utensils. Temporary exhibitions are held irregularly. The regularly held ‘Confucian Sacrifice Ceremony and Music and Dance Theme Performance’ has become a tourism and cultural brand with far-reaching influence in Tianjin.

The Confucian Temple has projects such as ‘Number One Scholar Incense’ and ‘Wish Card’ to meet the wishes of parents and students, so that tourists can feel the profoundness of traditional Chinese culture and experience the beauty of ancient architectural art in leisure.
