Tianjin Digital Art Museum

The Tianjin Digital Art Museum is located at No. 12 Chengde Road, Heping District, and is the former site of the French Concession Council, which is also one of the largest and most magnificent buildings in modern China. In October 1945, the surrender ceremony of the Japanese forces stationed in Tianjin was held in the square in front of the Council. Before 1949, it served as the headquarters of the US military stationed in Tianjin.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it has successively served as the office of the Tianjin Military Control Commission, Tianjin Library, Tianjin Children’s Library, Tianjin Art Museum, Tianjin Cultural Relics Bureau, and Tianjin Cultural Bureau office building. In 2006, it was announced as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Over the past hundred years, every change of this classical building has been closely related to the development of Tianjin city.

In the era of building a high-level ‘Digital Tianjin’, the Tianjin Digital Art Museum has chosen this location to construct a brand-new art space. While exploring the intersection of art and technology, visitors will also feel the surprises and infinite possibilities brought by the changes in the city, fully experiencing the multi-layered textures and cultural qualities of Tianjin, stimulating a deep affection for Tianjin’s history and a sincere feeling for the city’s rebirth.
