Thean Hou Temple was built during the Qianlong period. According to the inscription “Fifty Years of Qianlong” cast on an ancient bell in the temple, it proves that the temple existed at least in 1785 and is one of the oldest temples in Taipa. The Queen of Heaven is Mazu. It is said that she has been able to predict good and bad luck since she was a child, and she often appears at sea to help businessmen and fishermen resolve disasters and turn danger into safety. Therefore, Macao fishermen believe in her very much. Thean Hou Temple was originally quite large and contained valuable cultural relics such as precious ancient plaques, ancient clocks, and incense cases. Now only the main hall remains to worship the Queen of Heaven.
