Yingenmen is located in the northwest corner of the center of Shaoxing City. In ancient times, all imperial officials and even the emperor had to pass through this gate when they came, so it is called ‘Yingenmen’. Yingenmen was the main water and land thoroughfare from Hangzhou to Shaoxing in history. In the 1920s, due to the construction of highways, the gate tower of Yingenmen and other structures were demolished. In 2000, the municipal government rebuilt Yingenmen at its original site. Now it has become a free scenic spot, making people feel the profound historical atmosphere of the ancient city of Shaoxing.
