The Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties Tianfei Palace Ruins Museum is located in Dazhigu Middle Road, Hedong District, Tianjin City, with an area of about 5,800 square meters. In the center of the main building of the museum is the site of the great hall of Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, surrounded by two-story exhibition halls. The theme of the exhibition is ‘Melody of the Ocean’. With more than 200 unearthed cultural relics and restored models of ships and buildings related to marine culture and Mazu culture and 300 pictures, it shows tourists the contents of ancient human beings’ marine cultural practice activities, the origin of Tianjin City, the Mazu culture phenomenon, and the excavation of ruins.
In the center of the square in front of the museum stands a columnar statue of Mazu. The column symbolizes the mast. Adopting relief techniques, different marine patterns of Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties are carved from bottom to top. At the top of the column stands a statue of Mazu. Among the sculptures reflecting Mazu themes at home and abroad, the Mazu image designed in a ‘human’ shape is relatively rare.
