Introduction to the troupe: The Russian State Ballet is a national art troupe directly under the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Culture. It has visited more than 80 countries and regions around the world, including Germany, the United States, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, South Africa, India, Nepal, France, Mexico, Indonesia, Japan, and China. Everywhere it goes, it achieves complete success and high recognition.
The troupe has retained important traditions of ballet history and embodies a high degree of performing arts and ballet skills. It has always been committed to rejuvenating excellent Russian ballet repertoires and bringing the audience into the creative world of highly individualized Russian ballet dancers.
After the performance in the United Kingdom, it was reported: “Few people are as lucky as last night to witness such a glorious performance by a first-class Russian troupe. The performance of the troupe’s actors has such intensity and strength that it seems to transcend the boundaries of music and dance, and this intensity and strength are often lacking in European ballet.” Another newspaper reported: “The excited audience did not let the actors of the Russian ballet leave the stage and repeatedly asked them to add extra shows. Only actors trained by the excellent Russian school can be so welcomed. The actors of the Russian State Ballet are not only excellent in acting skills but also magnificent in costumes.”
The troupe can be regarded as one of the best dance troupes we have seen. It has been awarded gold medals many times by Italy, and German newspapers have called it “a pearl on the German international art stage.” The troupe’s performance is considered “the biggest event in German cultural and social life,” and it has been awarded the “Golden Ticket Award” for attracting more than 100,000 audiences in one tour. In 1991, it was praised by German newspapers as “a showcase of ballet talents” and was awarded the title of “the most excellent ballet collective in Europe” by the Western European Brokers Association. Actors of the troupe have even been elected as honorary citizens by several cities in Germany, the United States, Mexico, and other places.
