The Off-Site Project is a long-term art practice program planned and hosted by the Chung Tai Museum, which invites various creators to leave the museum’s established venues and head to non-typical performance sites, liberating from space and systems, and interpreting the definition of ‘Off’ through art practice. In 2024, the Off-Site Project ‘When Freedom Blooms into Dance’ invites the creative team of Zeng Lingli and Hou Ran Design to collaborate.
Within the corporate hall’s high-ceilinged, bright, and rational space filled with lines and logic, the project rethinks the boundaries of ‘space and freedom,’ ‘division of public and private domains,’ and ‘management control versus open exploration.’ By overturning the established space design and functional zoning, it invests in a soft and emotional interpretative vocabulary, attempting to change the boundaries of separation and challenge the limits of free stretching and dancing within the space. The artwork multiplies, expands, and twists the ‘rails’ that control the public and private domains within the hall, breaking through the spatial framework and functional limitations in a posture of breaking free from constraints. Transforming two-dimensional metallic lines into three-dimensional dynamic sculptures, it endows the rails that separate and divide space with a vibrant life force, challenging the style and tone of the established space, and reflecting on the relationship between restrictions and freedom in architectural space. The exhibition is open to the public from August 31st, with performance times and durations subject to the venue’s schedule.【Taipei, Taiwan】‘When Freedom Blooms into Dance’ Exhibition
