Shanghai Great World, originally established in 1917 by Huang Chujiu, closed its doors for renovations from 2008. In celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2017, the Shanghai government decided to reopen it to the public on November 26, 2016.
As an indoor amusement park, Shanghai Great World is known for its variety shows, acrobatics, and traditional Chinese operas and performing arts. It features an open-air sky tour ship in the middle, a cinema, shopping mall, snack stalls, and both Chinese and Western restaurants, making it a colorful entertainment hub.
Open all year round from 11:00 to 23:00, with free performances on the first-floor grand stage: Acrobatics Show: 11:30-12:00; 14:00-14:30; 16:00-16:30; 18:45-19:15.
