The Wushan Macaque Conservation Area is located in Wushan, Nanhua Township, at the junction of Tainan City and Kaohsiung City. It is the only macaque conservation area in Taiwan. Hundreds of macaques are freely roaming in this mountainous area with an altitude of over 700 meters. Due to the development of hiking trails in the region, visitors often bring fruits or peanuts for the macaques to eat, making the monkeys unafraid of humans. However, tourists are advised to keep their belongings secure to avoid them being snatched by the monkeys. The area is open all year round from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
