There are two entrances to the Shuishe Great Mountain Nature Trail. The north entrance is next to the bus parking lot of the Youth Activity Center. The entrance stone pier is the starting point of the trail. The south entrance is located in the Dehua Thao ethnic group’s combined housing settlement. The stone carving image at the entrance is the starting point of the trail.
The entire trail rises horizontally by up to 1300 meters. It is a hiking section that requires considerable physical strength. Reaching the top offers a panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake and the scenery of the Central Mountain Range. Due to the relatively high elevation increase, the forest on both sides of the trail changes from low-altitude broad-leaved forests to mid-altitude mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests. It is rich and diverse, and the ecology of birds, insects, and animals is abundant. It is an excellent path for ecological observation. If time is limited, after reaching the mountaineering entrance, you can descend along the circular route. Passing through the connected wooden plank roads, you can reach the south or north entrance.
