The Hsinchu Fire Museum was constructed in 1937. A significant feature of this building is its six-story high watchtower, which was one of the tallest structures in the entire Hsinchu City at the time. Due to the underdeveloped communication systems of the era, firefighters could use the watchtower to spot smoke from fires across the city, determine the location, and then quickly mobilize to extinguish the fires by using a sound transmission tube built into the walls to communicate with the fire personnel on the first floor.
After the Hsinchu City Fire Department relocated to a new site, this location was repurposed into a fire museum to promote fire safety awareness and is open to the public for visits. The museum is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, with operating hours of 9:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00. Accessibility services include wheelchair accessible entrances.Hsinchu Fire Museum
