Qiqiao Ancient Village is located in the northeastern part of Gaochun District, Nanjing City, surrounded by water and standing aloof from the world. The village is home to 30,000 descendants of Confucius. It features an ancient street, 500 meters long with a history of nearly 2000 years, where Han Dynasty bridges, Song Dynasty wells, and Ming and Qing Dynasty architectures are visible. The oldest houses date back to the Yuan Dynasty period.
On the old street, everything exudes an old-world charm: traditional bamboo craftsmen, traditional tofu workshops, elderly people wearing traditional cross-collar clothing, and skilled manual woodcarvers, all displaying the beauty of simplicity and elegance. The houses along the old street of Qiqiao are old brick and wood shops. Due to the erosion of wind and rain, the wood grain on the wooden doors is clearly visible; the eaves are protruding, and the lintels are carved with exquisite decorations. Every few buildings, there are small alleys with water-side passages, with doors opening in the alleys, forming front, back, and waist doors. Deep into the lanes, many old residences still retain the brick symmetrical air-flow ventilation windows. Local residents live here harmoniously with the old street, old houses, and old alleys, forming a picturesque scene of antiquity. Opening Hours: Open all year round, 24 hours a day.
