Zhang Xun, styled Shaoxuan, was a native of Fengxin, Jiangxi, and a prominent warlord of the Beiyang clique, famously known as the ‘Braided Commander’. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, he served as the commander of Yunnan, Gansu, and Jiangnan; after the Xinhai Revolution, he held the positions of Jiangsu Military Governor and Yangtze River Inspector. Zhang Xun’s former residence is located at No. 6 Pukou Road in the Hexi District, bordered by Taierzhuang Road to the east, Jiangsu Road to the west, Pukou Road to the south, and Bengbu Road to the north, constituting a large manor-style residence.

The estate comprises 56 multi-story buildings and 54 single-story buildings, with a total construction area of 5,632 square meters. Deep within the courtyard, there are two two-story villa-style buildings with brick and wood structures, hardwood doors and windows, and pointed aluminum-iron roofs.

To the left of the courtyard is a hexagonal pavilion, with a pond and perennial flower beds in the center. Upon entering, there is a reclining artificial mountain, and in the backyard, there is a dragon-shaped artificial mountain. The entire architectural layout is rational, and the environment is tranquil. Notably, the garden of the building is distinctive, featuring artificial mountains, pavilions, lotus ponds, stone bridges, and boats, as well as birds and flowers, all of which are considered masterpieces of garden art. The site is open to the public from 8:00 to 17:30 all year round.
