Yuan Heng Temple is nestled at the foot of Shou Mountain, as recorded in the Kaohsiung City Chronicles, it was originally established in the 8th year of the Qianlong Emperor’s reign (1743) by Master Jingyuan from Zhangzhou, Fujian, primarily dedicated to the worship of the Bodhisattva Guanyin.


The main hall, known as the Mahavira Hall, venerates Buddha Shakyamuni along with four other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and the hall is surrounded by three thousand Buddha statues. The interior and exterior walls are adorned with relief sculptures depicting the life of Buddha Shakyamuni.


The old temple exudes an air of simplicity and antiquity, while the new temple stands in magnificent splendor, resplendent with gold and brilliance. It is open to visitors all year round from 8:00 to 11:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00.
