Walking east along Zhongshan Road in front of the railway station, you can see the important landmark of Chiayi City – the fountain roundabout.
This is a large landscape fountain located in the center of Chiayi City. Under the illumination of lights at night, the fountain presents seven-color colors and is very beautiful. So this is also a landmark of Chiayi.
The famous Taiwanese snack, fountain chicken rice, doesn’t mean it will spray water when eaten. Instead, it got its name because there was a snack bar selling chicken rice opened beside the fountain roundabout.
At the intersection with the fountain is Wenhua Road. At night, it is the Wenhua Road Night Market, which is listed among the top ten night markets in Taiwan. There are many famous snacks and it is also an important business district in Chiayi. Open all year round and open all day.
