Taichung Park, also known as Zhongshan Park, is a historically rich park and a significant landmark in Taichung City. Visitors can experience local life up close by visiting this park. It features a chapel, tennis courts, and a library, serving as a space for leisure and reflection on history.
At the heart of the park lies the Sun Moon Lake, with its tranquil waters and a small island connected to the shore by a long bridge. The lake’s centerpiece is the Lake Pavilion, with red-tiled roofs and white walls, built during the 34th year of the Guangxu Emperor’s reign, and is listed as a historical site along with the nearby Zhongshan Bridge.

Adjacent to Sun Moon Lake is Fort Hill, which has a Moon Viewing Pavilion, the remnants of the old city’s northern gate tower. The pavilion’s entrance, supported by four columns, is simple yet grand, with upturned eaves and a large plaque hanging in the center that reads ‘Playing Music to Welcome Deities’. Fort Hill also hosts various pavilions and an Anti-Japanese Hero Memorial.

The park is lush with green grass and swaying trees, home to many adorable small animals. You can see locals jogging, students taking graduation photos, and couples in love, all adding to the vibrant atmosphere. Additionally, the park includes an open-air music stage and children’s play facilities, making it a popular destination for family outings.
