The Chiayi Station was originally an important transfer point for transporting timber down the mountain from the logging site on Alishan. Later, as the logging industry declined, there were many abandoned warehouses left, which were then transformed into an art village. The gray reinforced concrete buildings form a sharp contrast with the brightly colored artworks. You can also watch trains up close.
Opening hours: Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Open from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00 from Wednesday to Sunday.
Must-see tips: Start your journey in Chiayi from Chiayi Station. If you arrive in Chiayi by train, you will see a narrow-gauge railway and platform inside Chiayi Station. That is the special platform for the Alishan small train. At the other end of the railway is the Chiayi Railway Art Village.
