Dongwei Tianhou Palace, historically known as Tonggong Gongzi, is a temple located in Magong City, Penghu. It is primarily dedicated to Tianhou, the Mother of Heaven and Earth, also known as Mazu.
The temple has undergone several renovations throughout its history. The most recent records indicate that in 1967, the Lu family donated land for the temple, and the renowned carpenter, Ye Genzhuang, was hired to construct additional wings and expand the temple’s size.
In 2004, due to the temple’s age and disrepair, villagers demolished the old structure and pooled resources to rebuild it. The reconstruction was completed in 2007, resulting in the temple’s current appearance.
