The Jiangnan Hundred Bed Museum houses nearly 30 antique beds from the Jiangnan region since the Ming Dynasty, showcasing the opulence of wealthy merchants and the simplicity of common folk, a microcosm of history. The designs of these beds are meticulously crafted, with the standout ‘Qing Ba Bu Qian Gong Bed’ featuring three tiers and taking three years to carve, earning its title as the museum’s treasure.
Among the collection, there are Zelkova wood beds for men, known as Juren beds, as well as four-tier, three-tier, two-tier, and zero-tier beds. Each bed carries a rich historical and cultural significance, whether for seeking peace or prosperity, allowing visitors to perceive the mindset of the ancients. The ingenious designs and exquisite carvings by Ming and Qing craftsmen in bed-making are truly awe-inspiring.
