The project space of TANK, featuring arched characteristics of industrial architecture, serves as the backdrop for an intriguing exhibit by Belgian artist Thomas Leroy. With ‘light’ as the central theme, Leroy employs it as a medium for creating site-specific paintings. Visitors are invited to engage with the exhibit in two ways: either by gradually approaching it from the outdoor space or by starting with an intimate examination of the paintings’ details and then moving away, thus experiencing the variations of ‘light’ on both macro and micro scales within natural and urban settings.

Leroy’s exhibit comprises seven small paintings, each vibrant in color and delicate in brushstroke, arranged within seven color circles—six colored and one white—which symbolize different facets of ‘light.’ These paintings, through their various combinations, form two distinct color models of human society: RGB and CMYK. These models correspond to the color standards widely utilized in digital screens and printing today.

While capturing or reproducing light itself may be impossible, its physical manifestation—color—exists independently. It is constantly mixed, expressed, and reproduced by humans, casting its spotlight on the walls of the exhibition space. The exhibit is open from September 21st to October 27th, with specific business hours varying according to the conditions of each day.
