The Fan Xiyi Jazz Fusion Quartet, originating from Marseille in the south of France, was officially launched in December 2022. Centered around the compositional talents of Fan Xiyi, this exciting band brings together outstanding musicians such as bassist Paul Philibert, drummer Paul Scapilatti, and saxophonist Clément Rioland. Their musical chemistry is unparalleled. The quartet not only met at the Marseille Conservatory of Music but also found resonance in their music, creating a unique style of fusion jazz. Fan Xiyi’s compositions mainly express her profound contemplation on travel, love, nature, and modern life, presenting her unique musical world to the audience in a narrative style. Renowned musicians like Keith Jarrett, Shai Maestro, Emile Parisien, Chris Potter, Bill Evans, Nate Smith, Aaron Parks, and Ahmad Jamal have deeply influenced her. In early 2023, this energetic band has released three captivating singles, including ‘Confusing’, ‘Fragment Temporelle’, and ‘Turn Off’. Additionally, they have produced two independent music videos, ‘To Line 1’ and ‘Where It’s Home’. The band’s musical performance is not limited to audio; they are equally impressive on stage. They have successfully taken to the stages of important music festivals such as Moulin à Jazz, Paris 38 Riv Jazz Club, La Caverne Jazz, and Pelle Mele Jazz Club, providing audiences with stunning musical performances.In September of the same year, Fan Xiyi released her debut EP as a jazz musician, titled ‘The Stream Flows’, fully showcasing her talent and creative strength as a jazz musician. Now, she is busily preparing for her first full-length album, and music enthusiasts can look forward to more exciting musical works in the near future.
